Postcards from the Easel

Recently I was honored to be one of the artists interviewed prior to the Outdoor Creations show at the Great Frame Up in Longmont. This exhibit showcases paintings of the Boulder County open spaces. In the first part of the interview we discussed Terry's background: how he got involved in painting with pastels which led to his development of his own unique brand. In this second part we'll look at how he developed the pastels, the challenges he faced and what lies ahead. [...]

Many years ago, when Terry first started using pastels, he grew frustrated with the limitations of the cylinder shaped sticks. Because of the chalk stick like shape, Terry was unable to achieve the detail and finer aspects of art in his painting, so he went to work himself figuring out a solution. I paint in all seasons but  with the warm weather and blooms in late spring I itch to get outside everyday.
